STUDENT PROFILE
Hyunmin Gina Lee is a Korean Canadian pianist currently based in Rochester, NY. completing the DMA degree in Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Harley. As a recitalist and chamber musician, Hyunmin has been invited to festivals and venues across North America including Banff Centre for Creativity and Arts, Aspen Music Festival and School, Songfest, Yarn/Wire Institute, Indian River Music Festival, Toronto Arts and Letters Club, Art Song Lab, and the Music Gallery. Since fall of 2023, Hyunmin has been on faculty at the Rochester Institute of Technology as an adjunct professor of piano.
Hyunmin’s most recent season included a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity as a collaborative pianist and repetiteur and a recording project. Together with Canadian soprano Elise Noyes. Hyunmin received a Canada Council for the Arts Explore and Creation Grant which allowed the duo to professionally record Lili Boulanger’s monumental song cycle Clairières dans le ciel, and commission a new song cycle for soprano and piano by Monica Pearce. Hyunmin’s artistic activities in Canada and abroad have been generously supported by Canada Council for the Arts, ArtsNB, Art Song foundation of Canada, and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Hyunmin received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Toronto where she studied with pedagogues Dr. Midori Koga and Professor Marietta Orlov.
