STUDENT PROFILE
Xi Huang was born in China and began studying piano and voice at an early age. She is currently pursuing her DMA degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music, where she studies with Dr. Andrew Harley and holds the Brooks Smith Scholarship and a Graduate Assistantship in Studio Accompanying. She also holds her MM degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music from Eastman. In addition to her piano studies, she received her Bachelor of Financial Management from Zhejiang University.
As a recipient of the Changjiang Piano Scholarship, Xi has participated in many solo recitals and competitions. She also works as a collaborative pianist and participates in numerous concerts, tours, competitions, and recordings. In 2018, she won 1st place in the National College Students Cultural Competition as the collaborative pianist for the ZJU Wenqin chorus. In 2019, she was invited to attend the Jinan International Choral Festival. In 2021, she won 1st Prize in the Jiangsu Division of Hummingbird Music Awards for chamber music. In 2022, she attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival Collaborative Piano Program. In July of 2023, she was one of two pianists selected to participate in Toronto Summer Music Festival Chamber Music Institute. In the summer of 2024, she attended Songfest as a vocal pianist and a soprano, and also attended Music Academy of the West as a vocal pianist.
