Beginning March 23, 2020, all Office of Careers & Professional Development appointments will be held virtually via Zoom or phone to accommodate student and alumni needs. We have opened more appointment hours to help answer questions, explore and address your career goals, provide resources, and assist you in finding jobs in an ever-changing world. No matter where you are in your career, we are here to help!
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
Students can make appointments through Handshake by following these instructions:
- Go to Handshake at https://app.joinhandshake.com/
- Log in using your NetID and password (if you are off-campus, you will need to enroll in Duo).
- Once logged in, click on “Career Center” in the upper right-hand corner
- Select the “Appointments” bubble in the next page
- Select “Schedule a New Appointment” and follow the prompts
For alumni and those with limited technology access, please call 585.274.1210 or email our career advisor, Dr. Blaire Koerner at bkoerner@ur.rochester.edu.
Please note: All appointments are 30 minutes and must be made 24 hours in advance. If there is an emergency, please contact our Career Advisor.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We offer video conferencing through Zoom, the same system the university is using across many courses. Once you register for an appointment, whether on Handshake, email, or via the phone, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link for your session – just click the link during the time of your appointment.
Zoom’s technology allows you to share documents or your desktop with the career advisor while you videoconference, so that you can make changes in real time. Please have any and all materials you would like to discuss during your appointment available. You can also send the advisor materials in advance to help prepare for the meeting.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
In addition to our normal resources, The Office of Careers and Professional Development is working on collecting resources around funding, employment options, opportunities, and support services for musicians during this time. These resources will be posted on our website: https://iml.esm.rochester.edu/careers/more/
A SPECIAL NOTE FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.
If your country’s time-zone does not align with typical Office of Careers hours, please email Dr. Blaire Koerner at bkoerner@ur.rochester.edu so we can set up an appointment at a time that works for you.
