Tuba Mirum, the Eastman School of Music’s tuba and euphonium ensemble, has been invited to perform at the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference next summer in Cincinnati. The conference, which is held biannually, is attended by the top tuba and euphonium artists and ensembles from around the world.
“It’s a great honor for the ensemble to be able to play at this prominent event,” said Don Harry, associate professor of tuba and director of Tuba Mirum. “We are all extremely excited by this chance to interact with students and professionals from all over the world.”
The 2008 International Tuba and Euphonium Conference will be held June 24 through 28 at the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music
The Eastman Tuba Mirum is an 18-member ensemble of undergraduate and graduate students who perform a variety of concerts throughout the year. The group’s repertoire ranges from original works for tuba ensemble to transcriptions of popular music. Ensemble conductors are T. J. Ricer, a second year doctoral student, and senior Eric Laprade.
Tuba Mirum will perform in Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music at 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19. More information is online at www.rochester.edu/eastman/concerts.
