Throughout the months of May and June, students of all ages who attend Eastman’s Community Music School show off their accomplishments in a series of free recitals and ensemble concerts offered to Rochester music lovers. The series began last weekend and continues through Monday, June 18.
“This is the culminating time of year for our students, when they really show what they can do, from the smallest kids to the crème de la crème of our high school seniors,” says Eastman Community Music School Director Howard Potter.
Potter is especially proud to note that four of the seven ECMS honors seniors will be attending the Eastman School of Music in the fall: Karl Stabnau (jazz saxophone), Brighton High School; Nancy Carolyne Scott (harp), Webster (she is home schooled); Aaron Sperber (voice), Pittsford Sutherland High School; and Lara Somoygi (harp), Orchard Park High School (Buffalo).
The other three ECMS honors graduates are Daisy Chei (piano), Brighton High School, who will attend Northeastern University, Boston; Michael Sparhuber (percussion), Brockport High School, who will attend the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia; and Brittany Mruczek (voice), Notre Dame High School, Batavia, who will attend the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam.
