They team up with bassist from the Eastman School, Grant Le, a first-year student of Jeff Campbell, who is playing at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago and Rochester’s Bop Shop Records with musicians such as drummer Jimmy Bennington.
Completing the quartet is John Beck, retired principal tympanist for the RPO and head of the percussion department at the Eastman School of Music.

Walt Weiskopf Quartet – Smalls Jazz Club
Saxophonist, composer and author Walt Weiskopf began his New York career performing with the Buddy Rich Big Band in 1981 at the age of 21. Since then, he has made an impressive mark as both a leader and sideman with 12 critically-acclaimed CDs and countless sideman credits, including performing and recording with Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Donald Fagen and Steve Smith’s Jazz Legacy. A dynamic player with enormous technical prowess, Walt is equally well-regarded as a composer and his CDs contain predominantly original work. His five books on advanced topics in improvisation are among the most respected in the field. He lives in New Jersey and is an Associate Professor at the Eastman School of Music.

You don’t often hear the words “musician” and “retire” in the same sentence, but Harold Danko finds himself retired after 19 years teaching at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.
Retirement has opened up a whole new musical dimension for the jazz pianist and 1965 Brookfield High School graduate.
Danko, 71, studied at Youngstown State University, spent a stint playing music in the army, and then played for Woody Herman, Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz, Liza Minelli and the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra before taking the job at Eastman, where he was chair of the Jazz and Contemporary Media Department for 11 years. …

Wejing She and her husband Wenhao Mu share their experiences as BYU students and members of the BYU Singers. The couple from China heard the BYU Singers perform in their home country in 2015, and later came to BYU and joined the BYU Singers themselves. …
Mu has applied to seven doctoral conducting programs in the United States and was recently offered a full scholarship to the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He’ll start their Doctor of Musical Arts program in conducting this fall.
