The Rochester Celebrity Organ Recital Series (RCORS), together with the Eastman School of Music, presents the first concert of the season with organist Renée Anne Louprette, Friday, November 30th at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church, 141 East Avenue. Louprette will also be giving a master class on Saturday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Christ Church, which is free and open to the public.
Hailed by The New York Times as “splendid,” and “one of New York’s finest organists,” Renée Anne Louprette enjoys a distinguished international career as organ recitalist, accompanist, conductor, church musician, and teacher. She is University Organist and Coordinator of the Organ Department at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, and is associated with many distinguished sacred music programs in the New York City area, having served as Associate Director of Music at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, Associate Director of Music and the Arts at Trinity Wall Street, Organist and Associate Director at the Unitarian Church of All Souls, and Director of Music at the Church of Notre Dame. Ms. Louprette regularly performs and records throughout Europe and the United States. In the Fall of 2018, she will make her solo debuts at the Royal Festival Hall in London and the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris.
The Rochester Celebrity Organ Recital Series (RCORS) is administered by the Rochester AGO Chapter, collaborating with the Eastman School of Music, WXXI, and several local churches to invite some of today’s leading concert organists to perform on Rochester’s rich array of pipe organs. As part of each guest visit, Eastman organ students have the opportunity to interact directly with the visiting organist in performance masterclasses, with chosen repertoire focusing on the artists’ specialty or field of expertise.
Tickets may be purchased at the door one hour in advance of the concert. Suggested donation is $12 for general admission, $10 for seniors and AGO members, and $5 for students. About Eastman School of Music:
The Eastman School of Music was founded in 1921 by industrialist and philanthropist George Eastman (1854-1932), founder of Eastman Kodak Company. It was the first professional school of the University of Rochester. Mr. Eastman’s dream was that his school would provide a broad education in the liberal arts as well as superb musical training. The current dean is Jamal Rossi, appointed in 2014.
About 900 students are enrolled in Eastman’s Collegiate Division—about 550 undergraduate and 350 graduate students. Students come from almost every state, and approximately 25 percent are from other countries. They are guided by more than 95 full-time faculty members. Six alumni and three faculty members have been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music, and numerous alumni and faculty have received Grammy Awards. Each year, Eastman’s students, faculty members, and guest artists present more than 800 concerts to the Rochester community.
