Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox reimagines today’s pop hits in vintage styles
(Democrat and Chronicle 06/19/2017)
Bradlee rarely tours with Postmodern Jukebox, and he will not be at the jazz fest show. “I still want to be creating new things, and when you’re on the road all of the time, you can’t do that,” he says. “So I miss out on the rock-star stuff.”
But as its creator, he sifts through a roster of 40 or 50 musicians to choose from for any one show. “Pretty much anybody who has been in a video with us is fair game,” he says, but keeps a loose lid on who will perform at each date; there is no sign that Puddles Pity Party will be here, but Bradlee does allow that trumpeter Mike Cottone, a Rochester native and Eastman School of Music grad, and trumpeter Nick Finzer, another Eastman grad, will be at this show.
