Alexander Straus-Fausto
Canadian-born Alexander Straus-Fausto is an Advanced Diploma in Performance student at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY studying with Prof. David Higgs. He has been named as one of The Diapason magazine’s Class of 2023 “20 under 30”, a feature in which 20 most successful young artists in the field under the age of 30 are recognized.
Alexander graduated with a Master’s degree in organ performance from the Yale School of Music. He holds a Bachelor of Music at McGill University, Schulich School of Music. He has a passion for all types of organ music and wants to discover more.
Alexander has given recitals at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Coventry Cathedral, La Madeleine in Paris, Mechanics Hall in Worcester MA, Trinity Church in Boston, Princeton University Chapel, Woolsey Hall at Yale, St. Paul’s Chapel at Trinity Church in New York, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and Maison Symphonique in Montreal. At the age of 19, he was appointed Titular Organist at L’église du Très-Saint-Nom-de-Jésus in Montreal, a large Catholic parish which houses the sixth largest organ in Canada. He has further expanded the organ’s reach by creating more than 50 original transcriptions of major orchestral works, reflecting his passion for the symphonic organ as a virtually unlimited medium for artistic expression. He was also a competitor in the Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition in 2023.
