Rochester Every Day

The Rochester Every Day Program (RED) is a student discount program managed by the Rochester Center for Community Leadership at the University of Rochester Launched in 2003 by a group of entrepreneurial undergraduates; the program has steadily grown to include 150 local eateries, shops, and entertainment venues. The program's main goal is to provide an economic incentive for students to explore the city and patronize local companies. In exchange for offering students a discount, businesses receive free on-campus advertising support, invitations to special campus events, and a listing on the RED web site. The program is free to both students and businesses. Undergraduate students in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering and Eastman School of Music as well as graduate students in the Simon School of Business may obtain a free RED sticker for their ID card from the Common Connection, 201 Wilson Commons, River Campus.

Interfaith Chapel

The Interfaith Chapel was built in 1970 as a bold signal of University commitment to diversity. As the words above the entrance suggest, it was to be, “a house of prayer for all people” to celebrate their religious traditions and spiritual practices. Since this auspicious beginning, it has grown as a dynamic model of diversity in the University: a place that supports the particular expression and celebration of different faith traditions while promoting discovery and learning about the common threads that bind people. The Chapel offers the University and Rochester community a home for exploring and celebrating the familiar and, the not so familiar, in an environment characterized by respect and dialogue. The Chapel is a place for worship, meditation and quiet study; for community service, service-learning and discussion of social justice issues; for weddings, unions and celebrations for alumni and the wider community; a site for social and musical programs, talks on moral and ethical dilemmas and memorials. Life at the Chapel is quite simply, as wonderfully vibrant, varied and rich as the tower of colored glass which distinguishes its place along the Genesee River.

Athletics and Recreation

Based on the River Campus, Athletics and Recreation provides information on sports, intramurals, club sports, and recreation opportunities. The centerpiece of the River Campus Sports Complex is the Goergen Athletic Center, which includes the Hajim Alumni Gymnasium, Zornow Center, Field House, and Palestra. Other facilities around the River Campus include Fauver Stadium, the Peter Lyman Tennis Center, and adjacent grass playing fields. The fitness center is free to all full-time students at the University.
