- Case records
All records pertaining to academic integrity are kept by the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs. These records will be retained for five years, after which they will be destroyed. These records do not become part of the student’s regular academic file.
If a student is found innocent following an Academic Integrity Committee hearing, no records are to be retained. However, a summary of the case and its disposition, deleting the student’s name, is to be sent to the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs for his or her use in summarizing the disposition of recent cases for the department chairs.
If the student is found guilty, a full written report of the case and its disposition is to be prepared. The report should include a copy of all available evidence as an appendix. Formal proceedings before the Academic Integrity Committee are to be audio-recorded, with the resulting recordings to be retained with the final report.
- Transcript notations
Students who have been either suspended or administratively withdrawn for violations of the Eastman School of Music Academic Integrity Policy, will have a letter indicating this status attached to their transcript should it be requested. In the event of suspension, the Registrar will affix a letter to any transcript the student may request during that semester or semesters of suspension indicating that the student was suspended for academic disciplinary reasons, and referring the recipient of the transcript to the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs at the Eastman School of Music. In the event of administrative withdrawal, a letter will be permanently attached to the transcript indicating that the student was administratively withdrawn for academic disciplinary reasons, and referring the recipient of the transcript to the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs at the Eastman School of Music.
