Silviya Mateva

Dan Aune Organist, pianist, and harpsichordist, Silviya Mateva is currently engaged in studies at the Eastman School of Music where she studies organ with Hans Davidsson. She is a frequent performer and the organist-choirmaster at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Rochester, NY. Recent performances include the Eastman Organists Day at University of Buffalo, and a mini lecture-recital on the Italain Baroque Organ in Rochester, NY. She also recently assisted in the organization of the 2008 Eastman Rochester Organ Initiative (EROI) festival, helping to facilitate discussion and community education about historic organ performance.

Ms. Mateva won the Dobrin Petkov High School concerto competition, resulting in a performance with the Plovdiv Philharmonic, and received honors in the Fifth International Piano Competition for French Music and the First International "Schumann-Brahms" Piano Competition, both in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. She has also received numerous diplomas and awards including Presser Scholar Award for the Outstanding Junior in the School of Music, Outstanding Sophomore in the School of Music, William E. Duckwitz Talent Scholarship, National Diploma (Sofia, Bulgaria), Outstanding High School Senior Diploma, and Rotary Club Diploma and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, national music honor society.

Born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Ms. Mateva started studying piano at the age of seven and has studied piano under the tutelage of Svetlana Kosseva and Michael Rickman and organ under Velin Iliev and Boyd Jones, in addition to Hans Davidsson. In 2008, Ms. Mateva received a degree in Organ Performance (BM) from Stetson University, graduating summa cum laude.

Ms. Mateva was the organist at First Baptist Church, DeLand, FL and the pianist at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, DeLand, FL from 2005-2008, has served as an assistant organist at St. Ludwig Catholic Cathedral in Plovdiv, and also an accompanist at St. Michael Catholic church in Rakovski, Bulgaria from 2001-2004. She was a rehearsal accompanist and choral participant in St. Cecilia choir for the Papal visit of His Holiness John Paul II in Plovdiv in 2002.

In addition to solo performance, Ms. Mateva enjoys collaborative performance, specializing in piano duets.
