Arts Leadership Program
For Prospective Host Organizations

Internships are an integral part of the Catherine Filene Shouse Arts Leadership Program at the Eastman School of Music and we appreciate your interest in hosting student interns. The following links will help you better understand the process by which an ALP student would fill an internship position in your organization.

Local Internships (greater Rochester, NY area)
This outlines the process by which local internships are solicited and filled. This normally takes place in the Spring semester (January through April) for placement in the following academic year. We recruit additional students in the Fall, and potentially some of them could be interested in doing internships starting in November. We also have a small number of students who remain in the Rochester area during the summer and would be interested in a local summer internship.

Non-local internships (summer and post-graduate)
This outlines the normal process by which post-graduation/summer internships are filled. Students are responsible for seeking out their own opportunities. Students usually begin researching summer positions in January, and applications for summer grants through ALP are usually due in April. If you'd like us to consider your internships for the summer, just let us know so we can indicate this on the web postings.

ALP Forms and Other Printable Documents
Host Application for Intern and Intern Job Description forms can be found in the "Intern Forms" section of the pages listed above. We encourage you to use the msword format so you can submit to us electronically, but PDF Document versions are also available. Once we have your application and job description, we'll post the information to the web for student access. Examples of host information and job descriptions submitted by other organizations are available on the Intern Host Information and Potential Internships and Special Opportunities pages.
