Campus Security
The University of Rochester is sensitive to the fact that Eastman is an urban campus. 24-hour security coverage is provided by University Security Services through closed-circuit television and regular security guard patrols. Security offices are located at the entrance of the Student Living Center and in the Main Hall of the School. In case of an emergency, there are more than 30 blue-light telephones installed throughout the Eastman campus.
Entrance to the Student Living Center and Sibley Music Library is permitted only by ID card. IDs are required for admittance to the main building and the Annex from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
During fall orientation, the Office of Student Life alerts students to Eastman's urban location and provides sessions in "street smarts" for new students. We believe that a proactive security policy is the best policy.
The Advisory Committee on Campus Safety compiles campus crime statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education (USDOE). The statistics are available on the University Security Homepage.
