CD Burning

Using Windows XP:

In Windows XP, you can copy tracks or documents to a CD-R or CD-RW using the built in burning capabilities.  Insert the blank CD into the CD drive, and Windows XP opens a window asking you what you would like to do with the blank CD.

CD Burn Window

To burn a data or picture CD, choose Open writable CD folder using Windows Explorer.  A new window should appear and you can drag the files that you want burned to the CD.  After you have all the files that you want on the CD listed under Files Ready to Be Written to the CD, then you can click Window2 under the left hand sidebar to start the burn.

If you are creating a music CD, you can choose Burn a CD using Windows Media Player or Create a CD using Roxio Easy CD Creator to burn music.  You can just open or drag music you would like on the CD and then click the record button.

Using OS X:

Using a Mac with OS X, simply insert a CD-R or CD-RW into the disk drive.  After inserting it, a window should appear asking you to choose an action.  To make a data or picture CD, choose Open in Finder

Window Mac

After clicking OK, an icon should appear on your desktop of the Untitled CD Untitled CD   and then a new window should appear that you are able to drag your documents or photos into.

After you have completed dragging all of the items you want burned on the CD, and they are all listed under Recordable CD, click the burn icon Burn Icon to the right of the Untitled CD.

For a music CD, choose Open iTunes rather than Open Finder and open or drag the music you want on the CD and then click the Burn icon.
