What passwords are for what use?

Faculty/Staff

Active Directory / Exchange E-mail Account: Used to login to Eastman owned Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X computers along with your @esm.rochester.edu Exchange e-mail account.

NetID: Used to access various University systems, including UR Wireless, HRMS & VPN.

Why do I have so many passwords?

We have tried to centralize authentication wherever possible to reduce the amount of accounts and passwords that users need to keep track of. For example, Windows and Mac computers and the Exchange e-mail system use the same account for authentication.
