FEE & EXCEPTIONS
The general fee for applying to Eastman is $100. The application fee is paid by credit card at the end of the online application which must be submitted by the application deadline.
Applications cannot be submitted without the application fee (or fee waiver). After the December 1 deadline, late applications will only be accepted at the discretion of the Director of Admissions who should be contacted directly. (Faculty can not authorize a late application). Requests will be considered based on the timing of the request and only if further applications are needed in the candidate's subject area. If a late application request is approved, the fee for an application submitted by December 31 is $150. After January 1, the fee is $200. We will try to accommodate late applicants with a full range of audition day interviews, as space and timing permits, and after other candidates have been scheduled. PAY BY VISA, MASTERCARD, OR DISCOVER
Applicants applying online pay their application fee through a secure online payment system, time stamped at the moment the application is submitted.
While the Eastman School of Music is a division of the University of Rochester, the Eastman application process is self-contained. All students applying to degree programs at Eastman must pay the application fee to Eastman regardless of whether the student has paid an application fee to another division of the University of Rochester.
FEE WAIVER
The School wishes to make application possible for all interested students. Those applicants who cannot afford the application fee may request a fee waiver. This request must be made using an official form, such as an SAT or College Board waiver; in the case of a transfer or graduate student, a letter detailing the student's financial need must be sent by their college Financial Aid Office. This letter should verify why payment of the application fee would constitute a hardship for the student and his or her family. Note that we cannot accept a request to waive the fee from a relative or from the applicant. The fee waiver request must be recieved by November 20 to allow adequate time for processing before the admissions deadline; the request must include the name of the student, their application number and their application email address. Late applications are not eligible for a fee waiver.
