Each year the Eastman School of Music hosts over 1,000 applicants from an initial pool of over 2,000 who make the trip to Rochester to audition on one of our designated auditions days. The audition days are designed so that you can get as much information about Eastman during your visit, while simultaneously allowing us to gather important information from you about your eligibility for your intended program.
We have reserved practice facilities during each audition day. Our main building opens at 7:30am. Our practice building, the Annex, is accessible for those here to audition, though most applicants should expect to warm up in designated, shared practice rooms, due to the number of attendees on each audition day.
General Schedule Information
Please report to Eastman's main entrance at 26 Gibbs Street no later than 8:55am.

| 9am | CONVOCATION Attendance is required of all applicants who are not current Eastman students. Parents are also invited and should attend if traveling to Eastman for auditions. Auditions for current Eastman students may begin at this time. |
| 9:30am | Music Theory Test for all undergraduate applicants. Master's applicants receive audition day schedule. Diagnostic Music Theory exam for all DMA candidates. Informal Question-and-Answer session for parents until approximately 10:15am. |
| 10am | Masters and doctoral auditions and interviews may begin. |
| 10:30am | Undergraduate applicants receive their audition and interview schedules. |
| 11am | Undergraduate auditions and interviews begin. |
| 6pm | Audition day ends for most applicants. EXCEPTIONS: Voice auditions and undergraduate piano auditions may run until approximately 10pm. Graduate piano performance auditions run over a two day period. Most graduate piano performance applicants will do tests and interviews on Friday, and auditions on Saturday as late as 10pm. Applicants who are applying to the Piano Accompanying major only will be scheduled to end by approximately 8pm on Friday. PhD applicants for Music Theory and Musicology, and MA applicants in Ethnomusicology will have events scheduled on Friday and Saturday. These applicants will receive a schedule in advance, at the time of favorable prescreening notification. |

Hotel Accommodations

The Eastman School regularly refers guests to:

The above hotels are relatively close to Eastman. Additionally, if you wish to stay near the airport which is 10-15 minutes from Eastman by car, we recommend:
- Fairfield Inn by Marriott 585.529.5000; located at the airport
Ask for the Eastman School of Music Audition Day/Corporate Rate for the above hotels.
The Inn on Broadway 585.232.3595 is the closest hotel to Eastman, a two-minutes walk, but does not offer an Eastman Corporate Discount.

Meals
There are a variety of coffee stores, delicatessens, and restaurants featuring many types of food (Abyssinian, American, Asian, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean, etc.) beside and around the Eastman campus that are within a 2-minute walk that will allow an opportunity to eat at various times during the day. Further afield are British, Thai, Mexican, and Vietnamese restaurants. Your audition schedule will determine the time available for checking these out! Additionally, visitors may also eat in the Eastman Dining Center in the Student Living Center during the lunchtime hour.
